What to do with the booking form if I'm new...

Some people have been asking 'what do I need to do with my booking form as a new customer?'.

First thing to do is download a booking form, if you haven't already here is a link Booking Form 2010.

Then make sure you fill in all the details that you can relevant to the event you want to attend.

If someone has introduced you and you would like them to receive 10 extra OSPs, then please write a little note with their name, DOB, player ID(if known) and postcode and pop it in with your booking (or write it in one of the margins, inside of the booking form). Once we have processed your booking we will add the extra OSPs directly to your friends account.

Oh, and don't forget to include your payment.

    Hi guys,

New player for LT this year but I have been Larping since I was 17 (Now approaching 25).

Just wandering about Armour rules. I might be wearing a bit of studded leather on my bracer, the rest will be leather or cloth. Will I still need to buy Medium Armour Use to compensate the bracer?

Also, do I have to spend all 16 points or could I save points in hope to get a more expensive skill later?

Really looking forward to the Gathering and trying to convince my partner so I can go to Summer Moot as well to save a few quid. This has been on my bucket list for sometime so I can't wait to turn up.

Any advise for new players to the system would be much appreciated. I also intend to join the Bears camp just to give you a heads up.

Thank you for your time in reading this and hope to hear from someone soon.

    Hi John,

If you want your bracer to count as Medium Armour, you'll need to buy the skill. If not, you can count it as Light. That's not a problem.

With regards your Character Points, you don't need to spend them all, but be aware that you're not normally able to change or add new skills during the event itself. With this in mind, my suggestion would be to spend all your points. There's nothing stopping you changing your build for next year if you want to.

In response to John. Dont worry about over armouring. If one piece of your kit appears to be heavier but you only want to take light armour use then just spend points on light armour. Remember though you wont get the statistical benefit from your bracers, you will still only have 1 point of armour on your arms the same as every other location.

Conversely if you spent character skill (CS) points on medium armour use but only wore light armour equivalent kit you would still only be able to claim 1 point of armour per location rather than 2. The kit needs to meet the minimum requirements for the skill.

There is no point in saving Character Skills when you start your character as these base skills do not advance over time. A player character will only ever have 16 points of character skills (CS). However as you attend events you can save up OSPs - Occupational Skill Points - which can be spent on other abilities and skills not listed on your basic character card. These skills often have pre-requisite CS to be used but other than that your basic CS will never change (unless you choose to).

Have a look through the downloads sections for pdf copies of the Rules and the OSP book which will explain more about advancing your character. Also If you know which faction you would like to be camped with or roleplay with you can check out that factions website. I think pretty much all the factions have a website in some form or other and contact the factions plot/NPC team. They can give you advice on character and background creation and you will be able to get involved with your chosen faction much more quickly.

Hope that helps. Hopefuly the LT team will have the new forums up soon so we can discuss this kind of thing in the right environment.
